About Refugio X

Refugio X is a post-apocalyptic strategic survival simulator played in turns in the browser. Your mission is to pick a shelter from nine very different options —a hidden basement under a house, a building rooftop, a forest campsite, a moving car or pickup, an armored railcar, a ruined church, a coastal lighthouse, a sealed subway tunnel or a highway service station— and keep it standing for one hundred days of the wasteland.

Each day you manage scarce resources (scrap, wood and fiber, electronics and fuel), organize scavenging expeditions to destinations with different risk levels, install upgrades in the tech workshop and manage relations with the factions that rule the area: scavengers, militia and raiders. If a faction's hostility escalates too far, you'll suffer night sabotage, ambushes and sieges that can bring your shelter down. You can also recruit survivors with specialized roles —doctor, mechanic, builder, soldier or civilian— that completely change your run's odds.

The game is built for fans of roguelike-style management and survival games who enjoy decisions with permanent consequences: every shelter has its own exclusive upgrade branches, weather weaknesses, population limits and unique mechanics, so no two runs are alike. There's a technological victory (completing every workshop project) and a survival victory (reaching day 100), plus a global ranking to compare your results against other players.

Refugio X was created by an independent team of Argentine game developers and designers, and began as the web migration of a complex simulator originally built on spreadsheet macros. The current version faithfully translates every formula, upgrade table and expedition destination from the original simulator, adding graphics, sound effects, an online ranking and a tactical console aesthetic designed to play on both desktop and phone.
